Quick, Clean and to the Point
Innumerable. Multitudinous. Sundry. These are some of the words used to describe the amount of websites up and running in the world today. With over 168 million websites and blogs identified in May by Netcraft, these words seem very fitting. More than 2.7 million websites were added since April, bringing us to the staggering figure of over 90,000 websites and blogs added EVERY DAY. With this myriad of information and thoughts coming at the click of a button it seems nearly impossible to think that you can reach someone with your idea and product. However, getting through the haze is much more plausible than one might think.
The majority of these sights are merely pouring out information and thoughts without concern as to their audience or their outlet venue. People generally do not surf the web in order to read a novel's worth of information on a topic. It is estimated that 80 percent of the people surfing the web are doing so to peruse their topics of interest. Therefore, with the sea of information available to them, it is essential that you stand out, having written your content the right way.
Straightforward. Compact. Decisive. These need to be the description of your content, of your information, of your advertising, in order to reach your audience through the haze that we call the World Wide Web. In other words, your content needs to be:
C oncise: Do not say in two hundred words, what you can say in twenty.
R elevant: Do not let your content get stale.
I ncisive: Keep your content focused.
S tructured: Keep it organized in thought and layout.
P ithy: Have something worth writing about
Webster's Dictionary defines the word crisp as being, “marked by the use of few words to convey much information or meaning”. In the sea of over 168 million web sites make yours stand out by being Concise, Relevant, Incisive, Structured, and Pithy.
